Does who you were in high school effect who you are today?

A study to find out what became of your classmates was recently conducted by CareerBuilder.com and the results may suprise you.

Between February and March of 2008 Harris Interactive on behalf of CareerBuilder.com surveyed over 6000 employees in the US. They broke these employees down into the main catagories of people you went to school with. These catagories consisted of student government, athlete, geek, honor society, cheerleader, drama club, teacher's pet and class clown. The study wanted to statistically establish what each of these groups would be more likely to do for a career later in life.

Results of the study indicate that Cheer Leaders were more likely to operate in the role of a vice president. The Teacher's Pet group had the most workers that ended up in the administrative assistant and clerical fields. Athletes and Geeks seemed to join forces in the professional and technical services type positions. Who makes the most money? As it turns out the students that participated in student government activities reported making more money than most others with 12 percent reporting annual incomes of more than $100,000. Also in the income catagory three others groups weighed in as receiving higher annual incomes than most others, coming in at number 2 is students who were a part of the honor society followed by Athletes, Geeks, and Class Clowns. A large percentage of Teachers Pets reported annual incomes of $35,000 or less proving it doesn't pay to be a suck-up!

Although Teacher's Pets generally make less they may have the last laugh as over 80 percent are reporting to be satisfied with their career. The most miserable, Geeks and Class Clowns who reported having dissatisfaction with their jobs.

The percentages in this survey in some aspects are somewhat loose but very real. It did puzzle me as to why the Bullies, and people who smelled bad were not included in the survey. I guess perhaps the Bullies are in jail and the people who smell bad maybe didn't ever get a high enough paying job to buy a computer..?
